What People Are Saying

“Kate was a fantastic summer marketing intern here at Tarkenton Financial! She exhibited a great work ethic and professionalism beyond her years. She took initiative to accomplish tasks we set for her and brought us great questions and some insights as well. Her responsibilities included social media management and content creation, event planning logistics, some basic design work, and assisting the marketing team. In all of these areas she exhibited great potential, attention to detail, and a high level of execution. In addition, she had a great attitude, was personable, polite, and kind. I gladly recommend Kate, and we very much enjoyed having her as an intern. Wishing her all the best in the future!”

— Jay Moore, Tarkenton Financial | 2021

“Although I have only known Kate for a short period of time, her passion for leading others through open communication and attention to detail while in an academic setting highly exceeded my expectations for her in her role as my Peer Instructor (PI) in our Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations First Year Seminar course (UNIV1150: CJ1). As the instructor of record for the course, I set the bar high for my PIs, and Kate exceeded my bar without fail.”

— Kendrick Wallace, Auburn University | 2021

Currently, I am an assistant account executive and graphic design assistant at Cookerly PR. As an outgoing individual, I enjoy developing relationships with clients, journalists, and other PR professionals. One of my favorite aspects of my job is writing press releases and feature stories for my clients.

I have a deep love for arts and design. After my move back to Atlanta, I assisted the marketing team at Historical Concepts as a freelance editorial assistant. I produced new website profiles for recent Historical Concepts projects and renovations which involved selecting photos, writing narratives and captions, and formatting the graphic layout. I utilized my website development, copywriting, design, and marketing skills.

After graduation, I stuck around the Lovliest Village on the Plains to work at my alma mater. I was the PR coordinator for Auburn University’s Department of Art and Art History. I enjoyed writing the monthly newsletter for the staff and students. However, the best part of my job was helping student artists promote their exhibitions.

I served as the PR and special events coordinator at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center in Auburn, Alabama. My duties included event planning, publicity writing, event promotion, photography, and creating social media content. My favorite aspect of this job was meeting with artists and sharing their stories on social media.

University Involvement | 2019-2022

Being a member of the Oaks Agency was one of my favorite parts of college. The Oaks Agency is a student-run PR agency at Auburn University. Our agency is nationally recognized. The agency represents 8 local businesses in the Auburn-Opelka area, and we are only growing! Through the Oaks Agency, I managed and created social media content for The Boys and Girls Club, Lowder Family Business Center, and Southern Crossing.

The Public Relations Student Society of America has provided me with many wonderful opportunities. Through this club, I have been able to listen to public relations professionals from around the country. My favorite part about the organization is staying up to date on PR news.

I was a member of the Lambda Pi Eta honor society for the School of Journalism and Communications. I love to be surrounded by my peers with similar aspirations and intrests. I am honored to have been selected by Auburn University professors.

I believe it is important to help others whenever possible. My dad always told me “make a bigger table not a higher wall”. I have volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club and I am a foster for the Lee County Humane Society. I have fostered over 20 cats and dogs while living in Auburn.

Previously, I worked at MAQUILLAR STUDIO, an Augmented Reality Design Agency in NYC. As a marketing/PR intern at a start-up company, I learned more than I ever thought I could! Being able to help shape the company’s image through social media image and copywriting was a rewarding experience. I loved getting to know clients and coming up with new ideas for filters and campaigns.

During my time at Auburn University, I was a peer instructor for a communications course. I taught freshman the basics of communication/media/journalism/PR studies to help prepare them for their college career in these subjects. I love working with others and helping in any way that I can.

In 2021, I worked as a marketing/PR intern for Tarkenton Financial in Atlanta, Georgia. This truly jumpstarted my love of communications.
